Kim came to me for advice in 2022 initially. Life was very difficult – she was practically spending all her time in her cabin at the end of the garden to avoid spending time with her husband.
“Just wanted to say thank you so much for the presentation – wow, blew my mind and I have to say I had tears coming down my face at some points, as I was listening to you. I was also nodding like a nodding dog. There was hardly anything on your presentation that did not resonate with me. I have made lots of notes and have ordered your book.
I now know why it has taken me such a long time to get out and why we have split up a few times but I’ve gone back. I am not going back – my freedom and “ME” is so much more important. I have been isolated so much from people – friends and family. There is so much I could talk about – I wanted to shout it from the roof tops.
I have been with him for nearly 36 years and I can honestly say I haven’t known what happiness is in those 36 years and if I have done things that I have wanted or enjoyed – there has always been a price to pay or the experience would be tainted by his behaviour. I have a friend who is a retired police chief superintendent, who tells me that my husband could have been put in prison for what he has done. And what is so upsetting is that my husband doesn’t think he has done anything wrong or when he has hit me etc he is “so sorry” and then sulks as if he is the victim. God it has been horrific.”
One year later
“Thank you so much for the Recognition to Recovery Facebook group – really does help to read the comments and stories the ladies include on there.I have bought your book and one copy i want to send to my ex when I have changed my name to my maiden name. This will signal the 100% freedom I have wanted for the last 36 years and I can finally start my new life for real. Although I do have to say that the last 10 months have provided me with tasters of my new freedom.
Well I am nearly a year left my EX HUSBAND (How good does that feel to say ex husband). I am living in my lovely static home in the middle of a forest which is beautiful. It hasn’t been easy and still such a lot going on with the Financial side of it – he is still in the house, he hasn’t been answering the solicitors letters or completing the documentation. It still is costing me such a lot of money with my solicitor and court fees etc.
4 years later
When we went to court, my barrister spoke to my ex husband before we went into court in the hopes to get him to agree to a 50/50 split of the profits from the house; even though I had contributed most to the house throughout the 34 years of owning the property. He said he wanted a 60/40 split in his favour and he wanted me to sell the house and remove all of the furniture (he left the house in a terrible state). I agreed to it all before going into court as I just wanted this “man” out of my life. In hindsight I should have waited until we went into court but I wanted “calmness” and as little pain as possible.
I found a new partner who loves me unconditionally – we have a new life together with year round sunshine and I am planning a new business venture, life is good! My ex’s relationship with his daughter has deteriorated unfortunately but we remain close and her supportive words have been lovely to hear. My ex tried to come after me for half the monies from the sale of the furniture but this time I put him in his place and have heard nothing from him since.
However I just wanted to say thank you so much for your book, your advice, your help and your Facebook page. You are an incredible person, an inspiration and Thank you.”
My heart is full.
