Who are my clients?

Coaching is not counselling, it is not legal advice and it is not mediation or relationship counselling. I don’t see couples, I see either men or women as individuals  – this way you can relax, talk freely and ensure that my focus is on YOU. My clients come from all walks of life and at all stages of separation – those considering separation, clients in the process of court/legal proceedings and those who have been separated for some time but feel they need support and help to move forwards. All my clients are struggling due to domestic abuse and controlling relationships – whether that’s emotional abuse, financial abuse, conflict over children, there are always a range of issues they need help with. The good news is that it’s my area of expertise!

Emotional Support , Solutions and Strategies

I can give you the emotional support and guidance you need through every aspect of your situation. Things I can help you with include:

Examples

  • Guidance with decision-making about separation and divorce
  • Better understanding of the divorce options and process
  • Signposting to trusted solicitors, financial advisors, mediators and professionals to support you
  • Advice on Civil court and criminal justice Rights to protect you and your children
  • Practical strategies to reduce stress and anxiety and overwhelm
  • Strategies on co-parenting with your ex to reduce conflict and the impact on you and your children
  • Education and support to break the cycle of toxic relationships
  • Emotional support to overcome heartbreak and feelings of loss after separation
  • Tools to find a happier, more confident YOU

I can help you get rid of the hurt, sadness and anger and find the confidence you need to put your needs first and move forwards to a more positive space.

An independent expert

Having an independent Coach, someone who isn’t emotionally involved can give you honest perspective. Sometimes it seems everyone has an opinion on what you should/shouldn’t do, and you just get more and more confused. Some of the decisions you have to make during a separation are big decisions that can affect you for many years to come – a Coach can be honest and help you see the pro’s and cons of choices you can make, ensure you are confident with your decisions and help you see the path that is right for YOU.

If you are unhappy in your relationship or if you are struggling after your relationship has ended and wondering what life holds for you now, coaching can help. Coaching is about change that lasts – practical strategies to help you move forwards – after all, life is too short to be unhappy, right?

Controlling Relationships

For clients experiencing domestic abuse/coercive control we can discuss your options and I can support you no matter what stage you are at – whether you have only just had your ‘lightbulb moment’ or whether you have been separated for ages, but are still struggling with the impact. Through 1:1 sessions we can explore the dynamics and tactics of power and control – helping protect you from future abuse and helping you regain your confidence and self-belief.

I will motivate and inspire you, set goals and guide you to help you make the best possible decisions for your future. I will not judge you for any decisions you choose to make (or not make for that matter) – this is your life and you are in control of it. I can help you gain clarity over your situation and I will be professional and honest throughout.

Court Proceedings

Going through divorce or separation can be extremely stressful and then when you throw Court proceedings into the mix it can be overwhelming. I can help you manage your emotions so that you can make rational decisions. Whilst I do not offer legal advice I have lots of experience supporting clients through all the various types of Court proceedings, so can support and guide you through the process – which can be much more cost-effective than speaking to your solicitor!

Other Experience:

*Recognition to Recovery Insights Programme – I have created my own programme to help groups of women recognise and understand the dynamics of abusive relationships and recognise warning signs so they don’t fall into the same trap again. It also includes a focus on recovery and moving forwards towards creating a happier life, because an abusive /controlling relationship doesn’t have to define who you are!

*I am a trained IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) – the specialist qualification for workers supporting victims of domestic abuse.

I have worked with many women whose partners were on perpetrator programmes and I have completed numerous ongoing professional development training courses in Safeguarding, Honour Based Abuse, Mental Health, Sexual Trauma, Child Sexual Exploitation and Legal Rights related to Criminal/Civil Justice. I have supported many high risk and complex cases over the years and attended many safeguarding meetings, Child Protection conferences and have an excellent knowledge of probation, civil court, criminal court, housing rights and support services. I still have links into statutory and voluntary organisations and can attend safeguarding meetings to support you if needed.

I am an accredited Master Practitioner Divorce Coach trained by https://saradavison.com/, the leading Divorce Coach in the UK. Sara and I have worked closely together, through our mutual work at The Dash Charity and together we have trained several of Sara’s trainee divorce coaches on how to support clients experiencing domestic abuse.

Whether you would like a one-off session or whether you would like regular sessions to keep you on track, if you would like to get started please use the Contact Form and I will be in touch.
