This is the International Day to eliminate violence against women. https://www.whiteribbon.org.uk/day Although domestic abuse can happen to anyone, predominantly it is women who are affected.
Domestic abuse isn’t just physical. It can consist of many more subtle behaviours – isolating you from friends/family, witholding finances, putting you down and criticising everything you do, using the children as a pawn in the conflict around co-parenting. Read through the pags on this website to learn more about tactics.
These are the issues that many of my clients face, but I can help. There are other people that can help you too – you don’t need to go through this alone.
Don’t assume it will get better – it won’t. Don’t wait for a better time to leave – there’s never a perfect time. Don’t settle for less than you deserve – nobody deserves to be abused.
#makethepromise to do the right thing for you and your children. #makethepromise to reach out to a friend who may be suffering, #makethepromise to call it out the next time someone makes a derogatory comment or tries to minimise their abusive behaviour.
